Why Heels Are Tips for Leg Slenderness

A new study found that women who wear high-heeled shoes often have more uniform and slender legs than the women who often wear flat shoes.

Half of the girls in the study were accustomed to wearing flat shoes. Researchers have shown that wearing flat heels can lead to an imbalance, which leads to an increase in excessive exercise of the medial calf muscles. In this study, in order to avoid the impact of exercise training on the results, the researchers analyzed 10 sedentary people, including five men and five women.

The research process included measuring the electrical activity of female pelvic muscles at different angles of the feet. When the foot is 15° from the ground, it is equivalent to stepping on a 2.75-inch heel. In this case, the pelvic muscles have 15% lower electrical activity than usual.

The results showed that women wearing high heels had more relaxed foot muscles, increased foot strength, and ability to retract their feet.
